‘Hierophonies’, in the widest sense of the term, is anything which manifests the sacred. In the book ‘Patterns in Comparative Religion’, the author Mircea Eliade, argues that spiritual experience must be described and understood on its own terms. It has a language, form and dynamism of its own, that manifests itself cross culturally through universal patterns of expression. These set of photographs continues within this tradition of symbolic thinking with its possibility of revelation, transformation and vision.
